life started to change for jamari around his middle school years. realizing his father's attention was focused more on his older brother and older sisters and less on the things he did or didn't do, jamari began testing the waters of relbellion. when kids at school started to pick on him for his small statue or his family name, he would lash out. jamari would never be the kind to internalize and walk away. he believed in fighting for what he believed in, as his father had instructed. jamari always felt his reasonings were justified. he never understood the cruel things children would say to him about his family. he could never justify any reason at all for someone knocking books freely from his arms, or trying to twist his own appendages behind his back for the sake of a laugh or two. and by the time authority figures had arrived to the scene to see a riled up raven haired kid throwing punches as if his life depended on it, he was the one cast in the bad light and the other children were simple victims. and so the cycle continued. fighting lead to him falling behind in classes which lead to him falling into the wrong crowd and eventually finding his way to experiementing with recreational drugs and alcohol by the time he was thirteen. he simply wanted to fit in and be noticed as somebody of importance, and his friends accepted him for who he was regardless what others would say.

tho he found quickly that he hated school and everything that came with it, jamari still had an unexplained need to please his father. the older man was no where near as harsh on him for his lack of honor roll marks as he had been his siblings, but he still held his standards to the youngest haddad child.
